Investing in Our Future

New Facilities and Experienced People at Fairfax Plant Hire

At Fairfax Plant Hire, growth isn’t just about adding more machines to our fleet. It’s about having the right people, facilities and infrastructure in place to support the business and maintain the standards our customers expect.

With our fleet now exceeding 2,600 machines. We operate three depots across Yorkshire, alongside a dedicated vehicle maintenance depot and a small tool hire shop. We’re continuing to invest in the future of Fairfax.

Our latest developments include acquiring additional land at our Selby headquarters to support our growing telehandler and powered access fleet, alongside strengthening our management team with two key appointments.

Expanding Our Selby Headquarters – Investing in Telehandler and Powered Access Facilities

As our plant hire fleet continues to grow, so does the need for space, specialist facilities and efficient operations.

We’ve acquired additional land next to our Selby headquarters. This gives us more space for our growing telehandler and powered access fleet.
The expansion will include a dedicated maintenance facility. Here, our teams will prepare, inspect, service and repair telehandlers and powered access equipment.

This investment will allow us to manage our growing fleet more efficiently, improve the working environment for our teams and support the continued demand for telehandler hire and powered access hire across Yorkshire and beyond.

It’s not simply about creating more space. Our new facilities will help our teams maintain machinery to the highest standards. They’ll also support our customers as the business continues to grow.

Welcoming Shaun – Group Workshop & Site Manager

Alongside our investment in facilities, we’re also investing in experienced people to help strengthen our operations.

Shaun brings more than 30 years of experience running busy depots and workshops. He also has extensive knowledge of operations and people management.
He will work closely with our teams across all three depots. His focus will be on improving processes, maintaining high standards and keeping operations running efficiently.

A key focus of his role will be reviewing existing processes, improving consistency across our yards and workshops and identifying opportunities to raise operational standards throughout the business.

With a fleet of more than 2,600 machines, effective workshop management, machine preparation and maintenance are essential to keeping our operations moving.

Shaun’s appointment reflects our commitment to strengthening the foundations of the business, supporting our employees and ensuring our facilities and working practices continue to develop alongside our fleet.

Introducing Josh – Operated Plant Manager

Another important development is the appointment of Josh Ward as our dedicated Operated Plant Manager.

Josh has taken over the day-to-day management of our operated plant hire service from Mark. He brings eight years of industry experience to the role.

As demand for operated plant hire continues to grow, having someone dedicated to managing this side of the business is an important step forward.

Josh will be responsible for coordinating operated plant hire requirements, working closely with customers and ensuring we continue to provide reliable machinery alongside experienced operators.

Whether it’s operated excavator hire, large-scale earthmoving equipment or plant for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, Josh will be a dedicated point of contact for customers.

Having a specialist managing our operated plant division will help us strengthen relationships, improve communication and continue developing this service across Yorkshire, the North of England and beyond.

Building Customer Relationships – Josh Visits Fuse Civils

As part of his role, Josh is keen to get out on site, meet our customers and understand firsthand how Fairfax supports their projects.

Josh recently visited Mick at Fuse Civils, one of our valued customers who hire both operated and self-drive plant from Fairfax.

During the visit, Josh caught up with Mick to hear about their working relationship with Fairfax and the importance of having a reliable plant hire partner.

From large excavators and GPS-equipped dozers to articulated dump trucks, Fuse Civils relies on a range of machinery and operated plant to keep its projects moving.

The visit highlights the importance of maintaining close relationships with our customers, understanding their requirements and ensuring we continue to deliver the service they need.

Growing the Right Way

Our latest investments are about much more than expansion. We’re acquiring additional land, developing specialist maintenance facilities and welcoming experienced people into key management roles.

These investments help us improve the way we work and support our teams. They also help us deliver the reliable plant hire service our customers have trusted for over 40 years.

Our fleet has grown beyond 2,600 machines. However, our people play an equally important role in the success of Fairfax.

Our continued investment in our Selby headquarters, alongside the experience Shaun and Josh bring to their roles, will help strengthen our operations and support the next chapter of Fairfax Plant Hire.

Because at Fairfax, growth isn’t just measured by the number of machines in the yard. It’s measured by the people, standards and service behind them.
